Once a Woolie, always a Woolie

End of year Medication Pick-up

Posted Date: 06/11/26 (02:13 PM)

Good Afternoon Woolie Families,

As the end of the school year quickly approaches, we want to remind you to pick up any medications your child has stored in the school health office. For safety and compliance reasons, all medications must be picked up by the last day of school

Only parents/guardians  can be given students’ controlled substances. Students aged 12 and above may be given insulin, epipens, and inhalers to bring home.

Any medication remaining at school after the last student day will be properly disposed of. This includes all prescription and non-prescription medications, inhalers and epinephrine pens.

Please email your child’s school nurse if you intend to pick up your child’s medication(s), as it will allow the nurse to have the medication ready for you.

If you are unable to pick up medication by the last day of school, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting your child’s nurse prior to the last day of the school year.

As a reminder, the district nurses do not work through the summer. They will respond to emails sent during the summer at the start of the next school year. If you have an urgent need during the summer, please contact the building administration or ESY coordinator, Christine Warren @cwarren@millburyschools.org

Lastly, please keep in mind that all school orders must be updated yearly at the start of the new school year. If your child will be taking medications during school hours and/or has a special healthcare need necessitating Doctor’s Orders or an Individualized Healthcare Plan, please contact your child’s physician, or PCP, over the summer to have them generate new orders for the upcoming school year. Orders need to be renewed for scheduled, as needed, AND emergency medications, including inhalers and automatic epinephrine injectors. If your child wishes to self-carry an inhaler or epinephrine, please ask your doctor to make a note of this on the orders.

Medical documentation may be mailed, dropped off, or faxed to the schools. The MPS School Nurses contact information is listed below:
