Approved Learning Applications
Learning applications that have been "Trusted" and approved for use in Millbury by the SDPC are listed in our directory.
As school districts continue to invest in digital resources, more attention is being paid to the learning applications we use, how they collect data, and how they use that data. Millbury Public Schools is a member of the Student Data Privacy Alliance and has data privacy contracts with the vast majority of the applications we use. We will continue to evaluate the applications currently in use in the classroom and approve new applications as needed. Currently, these applications do not have agreements with MPS.
UPDATE
Recently, some platforms, such as YouTube, have banned the use of their services by children under 18 using school accounts. Google allows teachers to embed YouTube videos in approved learning applications, such as Google Classroom and Wayground, but restricts students from accessing the entire YouTube library. Teachers may, however, present a YouTube video for the whole class with their account.
Translations for Students and Families
To better serve our diverse educational community, Millbury teachers and administrators use Google™ Translate and ParentSquare to provide translation services to students and families.
Google Translate provides automated translations in over 240 languages. We use Google Translate to support students and families with assignments, curricular materials, and written communications. Millbury Public Schools (MPS) does not control or endorse the accuracy of these translations, but because we are committed to providing timely translations of our curriculum and notifications, teachers and administrators are encouraged to use this service. For questions about Google Translate, including how to help improve translations, please visit: Google Translate.
ParentSquare provides families with automatic, real-time translations in over 190 languages, ensuring that all communications reach parents in their preferred home language. ParentSquare uses the Google Translate engine and in-house translation technology. Millbury Public Schools (MPS) does not control or endorse the accuracy of these translations, but because we are committed to providing timely translations of our curriculum and notifications, teachers and administrators are encouraged to use this service. For questions about Google Translate, including how to help improve translations, please visit this ParentSquare Translation page.
UPDATE
Due to recent age requirement changes by Google, students no longer have access to translate.google.com and should use the Google Translate extension in Chrome.
