Safety First, Shaw Woolies!
Shaw Families,
With the weather turning beautiful, we are seeing more and more of our Woolies walking, biking, and scootering to school. It is wonderful to see our students starting their day with fresh air, exercise, and independence. To help ensure everyone arrives at school safely and ready to learn, please take a few minutes to review these important “Rules of the Road” with your child.
For Our Shaw Walkers
Stay on the Path: Always use sidewalks. If a sidewalk isn't available, walk on the far edge of the road facing traffic. Look & Listen: Before crossing any street, remember to look left-right-left and keep your ears open for approaching cars. Cross with Confidence: Only cross at designated crosswalks or intersections.
For Our Bike & Scooter Riders
Protect Your Brain: Every rider should wear a properly fitted helmet and buckle it before they leave the driveway. Go with the Flow: Cyclists should ride on the right side of the road, moving in the same direction as traffic. The "Dismount" Rule: For the safety of our pedestrians, please remind students to hop off and walk their bikes or scooters once they reach the school sidewalk or entrance.
We also ask that students remain aware of their surroundings by keeping phones and earbuds away while walking, biking, or scootering near traffic. If your child travels to school with friends, please remind them to stay together, make safe choices, and avoid playing near the road.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep all of our Shaw students safe on their way to and from school.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mr. Tuccio
