Dear Shaw Families,

As part of our ongoing district-wide improvement efforts, we are reaching out to students, families, and staff to better understand our strengths and identify areas for growth. What we learn from these conversations will help us reimagine the student experience and better meet their needs from pre-kindergarten through graduation.

About the YouthTruth Student Survey

Your child’s voice matters. We are inviting all students to participate in the YouthTruth Student Survey (https://youthtruth.org). Used by hundreds of districts nationwide, this survey gathers student perspectives on school engagement, teacher relationships, academic rigor, and future preparedness. 

Our leadership team will use this feedback to guide local improvements, and we may contribute anonymous, aggregated results to research aimed at improving education nationwide.

Participation & Logistics

Student surveys will be administered at Shaw during the week of February 2, 2026.

Parent surveys will be sent out via Parent Square on February 2, 2026, and will be available until February 27, 2026.

Please note that participation is entirely voluntary. Students have complete control over their involvement; they can skip any question or stop the survey at any time. There are no right or wrong answers—we simply value their honest perspectives.
